Featured  items from The Collection\u2019s permanent holdings include the earliest  written account of Mardi Gras in New Orleans from 1730, a Rex invitation  from 1896, and a queen\u2019s scepter from 1920.  Please note, The <a title=\"Historic New Orleans Collection\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hnoc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Historic New Orleans Collection<\/a> will be closed Mardi Gras weekend, Saturday, March 5\u2013Tuesday, March 8.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The Historic New Orleans Collection &amp;
